I think the reason why I’m so fond of the recent Gunnerkrigg updates isn’t just because it feels like a natural and organic development (as opposed to lol shipping bait), but because, like so many other plot twists, it is unexpected, at least for the genre the comic pretends to be in.
Oh hey will you look at that? This is my first Gunnerkrigg Court fanart ever! Mal and konec0 recommended that I read it a couple of months back and it’s quickly turned into one of my favorite webcomics along with Cucumber Quest, which I also highly recommend.
I got word that Pluffin was making a fan album for it and one of my favorite things ever is doing track art (it’s why I take so much delight in participating in the LOFAM projects) so I simply had to draw something for it. I chose to do art for a track based on the chase scene in Chapter 12 but I’ve been a bit compositionally blocked since finals happened, so it ended up being more of a panel redraw than anything else. But that’s okay! It’s fun to recreate a panel in your own style and it’s an exercise I recommend doing if you read any comics.
The Gunnerkrigg fandom seems to be kind of a quiet one (what a shame!) so chances are I may end up doing another piece of track art for the fan album if I get inspired! Keep an eye out.
